Form

The Jeanne Donlevy Arnold Center for Nursing Innovation blends modern aesthetics with student-focused design. Expansive windows, natural light, and warm materials create a welcoming atmosphere for learners, faculty, and visitors alike. The space promotes engagement and collaboration, with intuitive circulation and comfortable, technology-rich environments that reflect the College’s commitment to compassionate care and academic excellence.

Function

At its core, the Center is designed to address one of Maine’s most critical needs: a growing, well-prepared nursing workforce. The facility includes five state-of-the-art SIM labs replicating hospital and home care settings, allowing students to practice in realistic and safe environments. Enhanced science labs and dedicated student spaces—such as advising offices and a collaborative learning floor—support a holistic and secure academic experience that fosters both competence and confidence.

Finance

Funded by a $5 million initiative led by the Harold Alfond Foundation and Dr. Jeanne Donlevy Arnold, the Center exemplifies strategic investment in long-term impact. Every element of the design maximizes value: flexible instructional spaces, durable materials, and infrastructure that supports future growth. This approach ensures the College can meet evolving healthcare demands while being a good steward of its resources—providing students with top-tier facilities without compromise.
