Our Mission is to cultivate long-term relationships with a select group of clients who regularly require Architectural Services and to provide those clients with the highest quality and most consistent level of service no matter what the size of the project.

This “relationship” philosophy provides us with special insight and understanding into each client’s unique goals, work processes, personalities, and ideology. It eliminates the normal learning curve and creates opportunities to build on our previous knowledge base and to plan more effectively for future growth. This client philosophy is further enhanced by our commitment to provide personalized service by maintaining a smaller scale staff (Approximately 10-15) with very low turnover.

The same professionals who work on your project today will be there next year as well. We typically maintain contact with all of our clients even between projects to keep abreast of their current activities and to share information on trends and technology in their field or industry.

Our firm is well balanced. We excel at creating functional, unique, and aesthetically pleasing designs even under extreme budget constraints. Solving difficult design problems gives us great professional satisfaction. Low cost operational systems and sustainability are integral parts of our practice. Port City Architecture is a member of the American Institute of Architects, United States and Maine Green Building Council and is LEED certified.

We maintain the latest software in design and graphics including AutoCAD, Sketchup, Form “Z” 3D software, Photoshop, PageMaker, PowerPoint, and many other programs. We maintain an active website with a client secure virtual plan room that allows consultants and owners to view the latest versions of all plans.

Project Team Organization

Projects, at their inception are assigned to a design team made up of staff and appropriate consultants under the direction of a Senior Architect Project Manager. This individual will serve as a single source of contact for the client and will be intimately familiar with all aspects of the design. The Project Manager is responsible for project scheduling and ensuring commitments are honored.

All of the professional staff including the Project Manager will personally investigate and document existing conditions with our specialized forms and pictorial methods. Consultants will be selected that have proven past working relationship together and with the client.

All members of the project team are involved with the research of building systems, code analysis, regulatory requirements, specifications, and general construction procedures. This early interaction and involvement between all of the design disciplines generates a well-balanced solution for each project. This same project team that designs and details the building will also monitor the construction. In this way, the original design intentions can be fully realized.

The buildings Port City Architecture produces vary in expression to reflect a particular response to each client’s unique needs, site conditions, financial constraints and schedule, yet they are the result of the same consistent design methodology.

Commitment to Excellence

Our professional staff is strongly committed to the belief that architecture can enrich the quality of life here in New England. Our practice is both practical and humanist, striving to create a balance between the economic constraints of daily life and the critical need for long term quality in our built environment.
